Lovesick Dreams

She startled awake
in the middle of a nightmare,
hearing the words
"until death do us part".

Reality catches her breath,
still weeping from when they whispered
"I do".

A dream for Christmas
of a white wedding
with a chance of a
blanket of snow.

She hits the record button
and falls back into her sleep.

The pain hurts less
when you only become lovesick
inside your dreams
