A Song for the Season

by Larry Chamberlin   Jan 9, 2015

It has been one love's arduous journey
to say goodbye to black magic spells
and accept a wedding without you
despite the promise and it's aftermath:
that kiss beneath the rowan tree.

We were stealing a blessing we had
no right to - a romance for a nanny;
it was almost a fairy-tale:

make three wishes and catch a star
make it the topper ornament,
oh what a lovely tree, and
such a priceless gift, the card reads
"a home for your heart!"

Toss it out with the dross;
this holiday is anything but past
and the miracle is sold out:
standing room only at the lodge.
