An End

An End

Standing high upon this edge
I ponder life and all it's petty,
unimportant trials.
I once imagined I could make
a difference, be somebody
In this great wide world,
but now I know that it was
never meant to be.
I am a mouse. A small
inconsequential life form
who will never have a say
in how my life is meant to run.
A foil for others use,
yet never once allowed to
have a moment just for me.

Well, now that is about to change.
For once and all I will decide my fate.
I will allow my feet to gently
shuffle t'ward the lip of this,
my last hurrah.
I drop my gaze.
Beneath my feet so far is where
I know my final resting place
to be and I am glad.
An end to pain.
An end to trying hard to
be what everyone expects
and failing at the last
to be what in my heart
I know I am.
A lost and lonely soul
who craves release.
Who wishes only for
An end to pain, to life.
An end to me.

Oh wow, The emotion in this poem is so deep, and so raw. I can really connect to those feelings when you feel you will never be good enough or live up to other people's expectations, and what they want of you and from you.

Your wording is fluent, it does not stumble and you know exactly what it is you want to say, it is like you are aiming the poem at the people who did not think you would make it, and throughout your emotions, you agree with them and give up on yourself.

Such a great poem, but such a sad story. I suppose one thing for sure, is that when you are a writer on here, you can be somebody, you are somebody,, and your words let people know who that person is.

    Keep writing!

Such a deep poem. It makes you stop and think for a moment about how we live our lives. I can relate to this so well. I've had numorous times where this subject has plagued my mind. This is such a touchy and hard subject to write about without offending or stepping on someones toes and I think you did it beautifully. This poem is amazing. Deffenitly going on my favorites list. 10000/5

Cassie, This holds lovely imagery and eerie feelings of wanting to save the character here. When we are faced with death or the thoughts of suicide, we do ponder life and what we have done with our time so far. Here though; this character feels like they are not worth anything to this world and they compare themselves to a mouse, a small creature that no one can see or hear. For this poem this is actually a great metaphor, because people who are thinking about death often feel small and like a shadow almost. This poem as I said has great imagery, and you can almost feel the person and what they are going through, you put the readers into the authors eyes and for that moment, its almost like they are feeling like that person on the edge. great work. 5/5. will nominate tomorrow.
