Feathers

by Everlasting   Jan 12, 2015

It was when the lightbulb in the room,
Turned on.
Then turned off.
That the darkness enveloped me
in a blanket of pure comfort.

I laid there, fast asleep,
in a bed of nightmares,
that felt as cozy as any dream felt,
Yet when I hugged the pillows of heaven,
I felt the angels pinch my arms
with their feathers of consciousness;
Until I awoke from my slumber,

Bleeding
And bleeding
With regrets
One
after another.

Then the light in my room turned on.

And I felt enlighten.

I absolutely love this I remember I voted it 5 when I first read it... so I came to share my thoughts: I feel like it manifested from your unconsciousness... something thought of in your bed... something you experienced through waves of emotions that brought you enlightenment. I love your word choice and the bleeding part before the hopeful ending

    nice write

I liked this one of yours.

I felt like I could relate to this poem, especially in the parts of darkness. Sometimes darkness is a comfort, and not a bad thing, but other times, it can lead us to memories and pain.

Interesting write, and I think the innocence of the feathers worked well to tie in with the angels visiting in the night too.

Then to add in enlightened from the light coming back on, reminding you that it is better than what you have seen in the dark, in your dreams, you feel slightly refreshed.
It is like you have been possessed possibly in the night, through sleep.

A lot of depth in this short poem. I like it.
