Ceasing.

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 22, 2015

These days, these days no bravery is
easier to spot from a distance. Between your
heart and mine, confidence wilts. This year's
secret is not one I will share with you. Last
year I poured into you like were Tosti Asti
Spumante that I could become intoxicated
by. If I pretend nothing every went wrong, I
would be welding hell into these streets. I
know you're thinking, "I am a secret she
can't wait to share" but I've already given
almost everything. Especially my love, which
still scents your shoulders though I understand it
was never fate for you to return it that way.

I'm trying, trying to say goodbye to the dark
night and the museum of our history that sparked
to life like old bones resting aside their maker. I
will believe you are the one to impel me forward, to
not rely on the spring that cannot be forever.

Two challenges from Saffie's number game:

This year's secret
I will believe you are the one
say goodbye to the dark night
a secret she can't wait to share
these days

&

If I pretend nothing ever went wrong
no bravery
between your heart and mine
confidence
these days
