Warped.

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 23, 2015

Love will protect its own, but maybe
I am not yet its daughter. For I dedicate
my world to hiding from demons instead of
loving them for their lack of power over me.
Those shades of summer are no longer
dusted over my palms; I cannot summon
easy days construed with apples and cherries
and laughable suns. I hold a memory of lies
in my chest, and though my breath shudders
like a dragon stripped of his fire, I'll keep
hearing love songs in a castle I no longer
can fathom. You are a poisonous meadow I
can no longer rest in, with you I only tasted
sin on those fruit trees. So take a bow, before
you exit... I will learn to be my own
heart breaker.

Prompts from Saffie's number game:

Love will protect
I dedicate my world
Take a bow
Heart breaker
With you

Meadow
Dragon
I'll keep hearing love songs
Shades of summer
Memory of lies
