Welcome Mat

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 25, 2015

Is there a mat at your door
welcoming all of your kin?
The ones you cannot ignore
in spite of your trust worn thin
Because of an opinion
about whatever it was
in realms of the dominion
of what disagreement does?
Words you won't or can't take back
are breaking a mother's heart.
Someone needs to cut some slack.
Hurt that's keeping friends apart
is the sorrow that can heal.
Pray the grace of beatitudes
and God changing how we feel
may improve some attitudes
Forgiving our debts as we forgive others
could join us together like sisters and brothers

This is outstanding. I think I need you to change the genre from friendship to Misc, it wont allow me to nominate.

I loved the flow and the depth. I read it few times to gather myself up with your cheif messages in this one. It's all thought-provoking, everywhere.

I loved how it flowed throughout the poem but there was one little thing that bothered me and it was "sisters and brothers" maybe if you put the order backwards "brothers and sisters". I'm so humbled by this poem Michael, since I was behind the reason but this poem hit all the major points in my life dealing with my brother. Loved the title because it's symbolic in a way, for a welcome mat is the first thing you step on to enter your destination, so very clever in the title. Enjoyed this poem emensly have a nice day, and thank you again for making this poem! 5/5
