When a Man is Telling Lies

by Sunshine   Jan 28, 2015

It's not always hard to tell,
when a man is telling lies,
like a burning twig in hell,
you can see it in his eyes.

Struggling down to the core,
to reinvent fleeting days,
sewing tragedy a little more;
it's hard to believe what he says.

It burns you too, like a stolen fate
it is the weak that relies on lies,
and so you free him toward the gate,
as you swallow your soulful cries;

like a burning twig in hell;
he can see it in your eyes.

    The heart always knows, oh beautiful one:)

    Long time since I read you, Nana. I miss the old days, where you were still Broken Wing and I was the first to come read your work:)

    The poem you wrote is sad, but with a calm and determined voice. Lies are always felt, but often ignored on purpose, because we don't want to know...yet.

    With every tear we grow wiser and more beautiful, sweetheart;)

    Love, Ingrid xx

    For a moment, I thought you were writing a sonnet. Abab cdcd efef ..

    It has fourteen lines and 7 syllables in each line of the first stanza eventually the syllable count fluctuated a bit. Though if you were trying to write one, it was a good attempt, if not, this could prove that one could write a close sonnet without even trying lol.

    I agree, it's not always hard to tell when a man is telling lies, and that actually can hurt depending on how close that man is to us.

    This are my favorite lines:

    like a burning twig in hell,
    you can see it in his eyes.

    ^ I could picture it.

    Keep writing.

    Good work; just randomly clicking through - didn't enjoy it as much as other pieces you've done, but still powerful
