In the darkest of nights

by Bridgitte Romero   Jan 29, 2015

In the darkest of nights,
Oh, how have I cried for you?
With the taste of salt on my lips,
And a breath of desperation in my lungs.

With every pulse of my soul,
Every part of me,
I am met with the sound of your name on my tongue,
The sweet reprieve of ecstasy you fill within me.

In the darkest of nights,
You light every shadow with love,
And frighten the moon with your eyes,
I stand here; waiting.

With every new sun comes a new day,
Yet the hours are never ending,
Time collapsing in on itself,
Where are you, sweet love?

In the darkest of nights,
I search for your glow,
But am met with my own,
I shine for you.

With every wave that crashes,
I listen for your voice,
The sound of reason in disaster,
I am forever lost in the currents.

In the darkest of nights,
I cry out your name,
Screaming to find you,
My echo is hollow.

With every wind comes a whisper,
Teasing and taunting,
I need your sweet love,
Your innocent eyes.

In the darkest of nights,
I hold my breath,
So I can hear your truth in the wind,
It's the only thing I've known.

Oh, how I need you, sweet love.
To fill the empty crevices your absence presents.
Creaking and cracking,
My soul is broken without yours to keep mine company.

You are the sound of reason,
The light in the dark,
The moon of my life,
The sound of what's right.

I need you, sweet love,
To make your home in my heart,
Where our love will always live,
And the passion never dies.
