Dead Lights

by TheDarkCloudBehindthePoet   Jan 29, 2015

Darkness filled the sky, and the clouds started to cry,
The birds fell to the earth as the air turned toxic,
Zeus destroyed the land and Poseidon drowned his own creatures,
and Aphrodite swore to never love again,

As I sit and watch the world die, thoughts race in my head, the world I once knew was a lie,
Thought I lived in the land of the free and the home of the brave, but reality struck, and I can see my world has changed,
To the right a mother is suffocating her baby and to the left groups with holy books march on those whom they deem heathens and crazy,
The world as I knew it was gone, so I gathered my things and started to move on,

Taking the first step of one thousand miles,
I stop in the middle of the street and look at the clouds,
Wishing upon a star to correct the wrong into the right,
Then the clouds parted and what I saw were the dead lights,
Sending me a message only I could understand,
Knowing my destiny, and what I had to do to change the land,

I hear the sound of a car recklessly driving down the street,
The message was received, and my heart skipped a beat,
I sat down in Full Lotus like his holiness did before me,
Formed Abhaya mudra with my hand for protection on my journey,
The car is driving faster, I close my eyes until the time is right,
Then I open them and all I see are the dead lights.
