Folgers

by Sunshine   Feb 11, 2015

I have only known
what bitter tastes like
when my skin was soaked
in your coat.

Your dust outgrew
the light and space
around me;
the silence gripping
my lips tight together
broke into a storm
of stinging sighs;
thus I swallowed
the ultimate dusk into the
void of sentiments
overpowering my soul;

but it was you,
who chocked
in the morning-

as I sought equilibrium,
in the taste of my sweet
Folgers coffee.

    An original write, and as Michael says, a little twist of humour adding to the ......hhmm, flavour of the piece.

    I looooove this coffee, am addicted to their Black Silk one. Amazing!

    My love for coffee is reflected a lot in my poetry so I was happy when I read your title, I knew what to expect!

    Great metaphors, great wording, lovely piece.

    OMG I really felt the seriousness of this poem with a twist of humor at the end.
    Not that I am not a serious coffee drinker. ....knowing it is the cause of my irregular heartbeat

      Hahaha I think you got it right Mike! also I ain't a huge fan of coffee, especially Arabian one, it's too bitter, but I do like Folgers, they're easy to swallow lol, but yes I was being ironic indeed.

      Thank you <3
