I am Amber Rose

by Yakari Gabriel   Feb 26, 2015

I am Amber Rose,
and this world was built on dehumanizing
women like me. My body, is a billion dollar industry
but I am not allowed to say this. This world, likes me naked,
likes me quiet likes me submissive.
I, have no business being sexual by choice.
Everyone is allowed to profit from my body except me

My existence, is a music album nobody
listens completely, you skip my wholeness and press forward
to you favorite part. My traits, are used against me like,
How come I am beautiful and black and powerful and strong
and lovable and intelligent?
But then, I remember there was a time in
history none of these traits where accessible to women like me
weren't used to describe women like me
did not belong to women like me.

Even when I share my story shamelessly,
both the shade and the shame find me.
I am transparent, though to this world
I may not be much I still got a heart big
enough to swallow everyone in this room.

I am Amber Rose, and I rise
and I fall, and I rise, and I fall
and I get back up.
Mess with me and I will clap back,
will put you in check,
will remind you of what you lack
my back does bend and twerks and moves
but it does not crack

I am Amber Rose,
and men shade me after they've been with me
only because I refuse to be, the punching
bag this world wants to make of me

I have been reading this poem a lot lately, I think to a great extent you can really express many thoughts on my mind and of course on the minds of many many women brilliantly.
This writing stroked me, very frank, very open, very well penned.

Really thank you for sharing, you are more than special.
