Sacrifice

by Serpentine   Mar 4, 2015

Beyond the cemetery gates
is where I'll follow you

Beneath the dirt & under the sun
swallowed with you

to fertilize
to grow
to rise above
intertwined by vines
in you, my love.

if it pours, we'll be together
waiting for the better weather

if one bleeds
it's onto the other

Sacrifice ~
to keep me under cover

if the dam were to break
& the world, became a flood
I will drag you up
from the sinking mud,
to the surface, embracing sunlight.

a cool breeze bites my skin
we hear a whisper in the wind
"just breathe..."

exchange of smiles, with settlement of tears
holding you so tight
blue skies surround,
diminishing FEAR.
everything
everyone
will be alright.

Benevolence shook our hand

together, birds of a feather, we take flight---

this FATE I cannot fight.

This was beautiful. very romantic. i like how you used benevolence instead of malevolence. either word changes the ending to this piece immensely.

    "to fertilize
    to grow
    to rise above
    intertwined by vines
    in you, my love".

    This was my favorite stanza.

the subtle references in this piece were pleasant to read. i appreciate how clever your writing has become.
