Where's your halo, dear?

by Poet on the Piano   Mar 13, 2015

I used to think my love for you
exceeded all colors, rose above
every spectrum, but no, I am
only disturbed by you in light or
dark shadows... when rain follows
snow and a winter where I
learned bitterness.

My love for you is grey mist on
Friday the 13th, as I try to cut
out nocuous thoughts of you from
underneath piqued skin. As I
struggle with lighters and kitchen
knives that aren't that sharp and
anxiety pills that make me gag.

My love for you is white, you've
resurrected me; you absorb the
world I could never get close
enough to fully
understand.

- Written while listening to Starset's song called "Halo".

Oh wow! Another one with so much power!

The metaphors in here are great and really emphasise that dark emotion going on, the inner pain and depression.

    I love this line:

My love for you is grey mist on
Friday the 13th, as I try to cut
out nocuous thoughts of you from
    underneath piqued skin.

    - the idea of "cutting nocuous thoughts" from skin is amazing, so unique and gripping!

I also like how you use white as a colour for love, instead of the usual red or pink. I think the ending is so contrasting, a white love but yet such a dark world that you never felt able to understand or belong in.

    Really powerful write.
