Only One

You were the only one
who ever wrapped their arms around me
and made me feel secure.

You were the only one
who could ever look me in the eyes
and know exactly how I was feeling.

You were the only one
who could understand my silence,
yet comfort me with yours.

And you are the only one
who can disappear,
then reappear,
and none of the above ever changes.

    You are so good at expressing yourself and saying exactly what you want to say in few words - a skill in itself - no waffle which loses the focus! You use simple words and phrases magically! Lovely imagery, simply described!

    Darn it, Mark, I was going to make the same comment on the inspiration from Sam Smith :)

    Well, Saffie, you really put your heart out in this piece and I think each line speaks for itself. So hard to write how much a person can mean to us, how much their presence or even silence (in some cases) can still comfort us. I definitely have that person in my life who can read everything I don't say in my eyes, and who is patient when I don't know what exactly to say. Then even if circumstances pulled us apart, if I am near them again, it is like we are still so connected.
