Too Close For Comfort

I promised myself I wouldn't let you get this close,
but my defences are growing weaker and weaker
and I can feel my walls crumbling down.

I do not need another failed attempt at trust,
and my heart couldn't cope with another scar
of abandonment, yet I feel you comforting my fears
and reassuring my 'what ifs'.

And I am writing this now so I can let you know
that you have finally found your way through my defences.....

and I guess I wonder what will happen next?
