Passing Through

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 25, 2015

Sometimes a person can enter your life
and make it so much brighter,
even though you can't explain why or how.

Sometimes a person is only in the background,
giving away free smiles and friendly waves -
gestures that somehow make your day better.

Sometimes that person suddenly has to leave,
and they have no idea how dark your life
becomes without them.

And sometimes,
you cannot help but miss them deeply,
even though you still cannot explain why or how.

Beautiful insight, well described emotions and feelings and lovely imagery! An experience shared by most people at times in their lives, so it is easy to empathise with you! You said that this was written in the past but,
unless you have edited it, it feels much more recent! Lovely poem, with a tinge of sadness!

Writing, painting or making music is a good way of expressing your emotions. There are people who enter our lives for a brief moment and make a big impression. We can't really explain why or what it was but we remember them. There is a reason for everything. Keep on writing

I enjoy poems that repeat a particular word for emphasis, like you have with sometimes. It feels like each time I read the word again the poem moves a level deeper. It is a powerful poetry tool. It is interesting too that your stanzas could be read all separately, talking about specific people each time, or read interconnected to be telling a story about this relationship you had that was beautiful and now feels gone. Poetry is one of the best ways I have found to drain away some of that emotional poison of pain and loss. Let it out.
