Childhood Lost

by cassie hughes   Apr 5, 2015

I realised this morning
that the unicorn is dead.
There are no fairies anymore
and all the dwarves have fled.
The magic has grown weak and cold
and left us only lies.
The rainbow drained of colours bold
amid these dreary skies.
And 'though my heart weeps
for the loss, I understand, at last.
This is the ending of the world,
The child within has passed.

This is another lovely piece, Cassie - made better by my knowledge of your passion for all things fantastical, and that - when we grow up - we have to be contented with the idea of it, because in reality, it doesn't exist that way. Things do seem much duller as an adult sometimes, don't they?
