Footprints

by Beautiful Tragedy   Apr 7, 2015

She grew up with abuse,
fearing for her life,
and before she even knew it,
She was depending on her knife.
She was hated and tortured for months,
She had no idea what to do,
Day after dreadful day,
Her hartred for herself and her life grew.
One night she broke down,
She was all alone,
Nobody was there for her,
Her best friend didn't pick up the phone.
She was caught that night,
and her anger grew,
She turned back to her blade,
Depending on it to get her through.
Four years later,
she was still depressed,
Trying to make in through the day,
With little or next to no success.
Then she met a guy,
Who changed her whole life,
Making her heart beat with reason,
Making her abandon her knife.
He sewed her back together,
Made her smile real,
Every emotion running through her body,
She thought she'd never feel.
She depended on him,
Maybe a little too much,
But this was the only guy,
Who knew how to make her blush.
He held her hand and sent sparks flying,
Kissed her forehead and made her feel protected,
All those years she spent in hell,
And now she no longer felt rejected.
She knows that the day will come,
Whenever she has to leave,
She wonders if she can handle it,
If she'll still be able to breathe.
Things were hard and he was there,
To wipe away her tears,
At night when she cried herself to sleep,
Thinking of him would calm her fears.
He makes her laugh;
He makes her cry,
He makes her smile
She doesn't know how she'll be able to say goodbye.
With one last kiss,
a hug and a ticket to go,
She watches him walk away,
Leaving footprints in the snow.
