Teddy Bear

by NightFlyer   Apr 13, 2015

You spent your last days in a hospital room
One month before your beating heart stopped
You were drifting away to the door of your tomb
I bought your last gift from the hospital shop.

They brought to your room a brown teddy bear
A soft, furry friend to make you feel loved
A message from me, to show you I cared
To hold on your journey to Heaven above.

No family or friends to comfort you there
Forgotten and lonesome, in white sheets, you lay
I picture you clutching your brown teddy bear
Kind gift from my heart as your life slipped away.

Very sad but extremely moving tribute.
All you can do is make their last moments special and to make them feel loved. I feel sure that the Teddy brought much more comfort than you could ever imagine. I took a bunch of balloons to my stepfather to cheer him up before he died, trying desperately not to make him feel like he was dying so I understand your pain.

This has really touched me, what a wonderful piece full of emotion. Death is one of the things that is set in stone but it hurts like hell well someone close to us dies.

    Take care, Em

How very sad NightFlyer your poem is, and my Heart goes out to you.
You have served your friend well with this great poem written in her memory.

If it's any consolation, Death is never the end of our lives, and we will be reunited when our turn comes.

Your poem is a great tribute to her and well penned. It is very beautiful and touching.

This was a sad yet wonderful tribute to someone so special to the poet. Makes people want to tear up here and there since a death is never easy to experience, I for one have gone through the pain and this poem hit close to home. Really relatable to people who have gone through, and are going through this point in their lives.
