Through The Dark Window

by Shelley Williams   May 11, 2015

I glance through the window
as if it's in darkness a mirror,
Within the brown messy hair
a wriggling of worms appear.

I reach out with my hand
and feel them with my eyes,
In the distance I'm awakened
to the hiss in their cries.

A scream breaks the window,
crashes through the mirror,
In pieces on the wood floor
blood dripping from a tear.

The creature is crawling
on her hands and knees,
When I peek inside again
it is myself my heart sees.

The pain that is creeping
becomes a dark desire,
I am consumed by the danger
and engulfed by the fire.
