I'm coming home

by Dagmar Wilson   May 12, 2015

I'm heading home
only a few more miles to go,
clouds, birds and bees
that's all my eyes can see.
I've been waiting for this day.

Not once did I look back
leaving my belongings in the past.

Ms. Dagmar, I agree with James, this is a very nice poem. The feel of this poem is somewhat nostalgic, but it's lovely. The metaphors are great, as well as the imagery. There are always certain thing in our lives that no matter how many miles we have driven away from it, we will still come back to it for they make us feel lucky and happy to be alive. It's like fretting yesterday and now you are ready to go home, hoping that you are already forgiven or something like that. Everything waits for your come back, like they are cheering for you. This such a wonderful write! The simplicity of the piece is lovely! Good job! (:

This is a really good poem Dagmar. We all feel in our heart what home is to us. It could be a town, a person, a house. It does not end there though. I love the metaphor you have used here though. It seems like you are talking about a certain place, but it is deeper than it appears to be. I think you are talking about the future you are going to be living in. I love the imagery and nature setting you used here as well. well not so much a setting but what you see all arounf you at the time. I love that, because it adds so much depth to a poem. Anyway the present you are living now will soon become your future and you are saying that whatever is in the past must stay there. Nominated! 5/5
