This is sad. I think when you are in love, we all need that one person who we feel safe with. And being solider is not only tough on the solider, but on the family as well. we don't think about that a lot of times. I love the personal touch you bring to this poem and the feelings you portray here. Here though you seem to show the double side of the main character, how she feels loved when he is there and without. We all go through our own battles, so I really liked how you worded this. This person is fighting overseas and the character is battling being sober, which is a great connection in my opinion. we all have unseen battle within our souls. I love the ending as well, because she is trying to stay sober for her child and lover. This was a great all round poem with lots of plays on emotions. 5/5

This poem is very heartbreaking. You showed the pain from multiple sides, often some sides that definitely don't get shown as often. The family sacrifices as well, and they are all still very human with very human issues, such as addiction. Well penned piece.

Life can be very overwhelming at times but it makes us stronger at the end. Very sad and heartbreaking write.

I'm a United States Marine. My current speciality in the Corps is Postal Clerk. I originally wanted to do Data Network Specialist, though that was changed. Being deployed in a combat zone as a Postal Clerk or whatever speciality you choose is still dangerous and every Wife/Husband knows that.

I could easily get into a firefight while delivering mail to fellow Marines just so that they could get their mail from their loved ones. Many postals have died alongside infantrymen in these cases. A Marine is a Marine. I'm just grateful that times are slowing down and combat-zone deployments are becoming scarce, for now.

Moria Bella Knight, I can't say enough about your poem. You proved to many how hard it is to have a soldier, Airman, Sailor, and Marine as a loved one. I can't imagine how depressing it is for you to sit at home and think about all of the things you'll do with him when he gets back. Though unfortunately that doesn't happen sometimes.
