Chimney Lies

by Baby Rainbow   May 16, 2015

In the chimney of forced forgiveness,
I choke on the familiar smoke
left behind by your fake apologies.

When someone special close to our heart is betraying our trust it will crush us at some point. We always have to find a way and forgive, not necessarily forget. Once that trust has been broken it is rather difficult to restore it. No matter how much they say "I am sorry" whether they mean it or not it makes us doubt them. Great write

This poem speaks a lot of how when we are with someone or even a friend, how we can believe in what they are saying and in the end find out how much they lied to us and behind our backs. This poem shows those emotions in a great metaphor. In life in general it is hard to forgive anyone who hurt us and it even hurts more when it is someone who we are close to and care about deeply. I love how you worded this though. When we are forced to do something or say something we choke on our words and it hurt even more. I love the smoke metaphor because of the choking part. the ending is perfect as well because when we have to listen to someone say sorry it is difficult to believe them. 5/5
