Mothers Against Deadly Deputies

by Michael D Nalley   May 24, 2015

The bottle has no heart or soul
and often plays a deadly role
in the early demise of a child
who, it seems, was born to be wild.

The deputy is sworn to serve,
protect the law with no reserve.
The laws demanded by mothers
are enforced above all others.

Safety at the end of the day
Where common sense goes a long way,
doesn't increase what can be defused
to keep senseless egos amused

Perfect worlds have no confusion,
perfection's just an illusion.
Debts pardoned as you forgive others.
Pray you won't have to offend mothers.

I like the great wisdom and message behind this poem, direct words, smooth flow and resonant tone, in this mad world perfection is an illusion indeed. Very neat writing.

Wow Michael. This really touched my heart.
I feel like the world itself has not much changed it is the people making it a rather unsafe place. Crimes of any kind are on the rise and even authorities can't stop it. We have to forgive and keep on praying. Excellent written and added to my favorite.
