Diary of a Rescue Dog - Shut Up! (Part Six)

by Baby Rainbow   May 31, 2015

The very next day a new stranger came
and took me away in his car,
I had no idea where I was going
but I barked the whole way there.

He opened up the boot
and grabbed me by the neck, yelling:
"that's enough of that!"
before throwing me through the front door of his house,
which he claimed to be my new start.

I was pleased to see a garden
where finally I could run,
it's the only grass I'd ever seen
and it looked like so much fun.
There were beautiful flowers everywhere,
which I started to dig up,
until this stranger reappeared
to rub my face in mud.

He threw me in the cupboard
beneath the wooden stairs,
and told me he would teach me
how real dogs should behave.
He left me there alone until the morning came.
At first I tried to howl so he wouldn't forget I was there,
but he came to me with a black piece of cloth
and tied it around my nose,
as he told me to shut up!

So there I was just five months old,
trying to understand this fourth home of mine
in a world that I don't think I will ever understand.

I could go on and on about this. People have issues with power and control and take it out on an animal. That is sick and they need to be punished. Animals have no voice and they are defenseless against this kind of cruelty. You did an amazing job with these writes. 5/5
