Oysters by the Sea

by Maple Tree   Jun 1, 2015

Her eyes belonged to another from afar,
cats eye marble,
coast to coast;
she faded by seaside
with only a whispers lullaby
in her pocket.

Starfish in hand,
walking away from
visions she barely new;
memories were unspoken
in a mind that wanders
by the light of moonbeams.

Unattended, abandoned-
it was her only escape,
marked by gypsy ancestors
leaving oceanic waves was
a dance she knew well.

Tides will always turn
as tears become sand pebbles,
oysters of pearl gaze at her shadow;

upon a night when the unforgiving
fell mercy to the soul who broke
another promise....

    Probably I read this poem more than 6 times. It's fascinating how this writer takes care of every single detail. the sad story itself was more than interesting, the words very well chosen, the imagery is mind-blowing, flowing smoothly in a very balanced tone making the reader charmed by every line. Beautifully penned.
