Diary of a Rescue Dog - Too Clingy - (Part Eighteen)

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 2, 2015

My fur is soaking wet from the tears of my old mum,
as she hands all my belongings back
to the kennels she got me from.
She says her heart is breaking,
(mine is breaking too!)
but she simply didn't know anything else that she could do.

She told them I was changing
and there was no excuses for why.
Apparently she could no longer leave me
or I would howl the house down and cry,
I couldn't go for walks any more
because I was scared of what was around,
and I wouldn't let any strangers
approach my owner's ground.

So with tear-filled eyes and a heavy heart,
she kissed me one last goodbye,
and back into the empty kennel I went,
trying to understand why.

Why do people take me home
and constantly bring me back,
then expect me to understand a world
that they are constantly changing?

A world that never seems
to have a place in it for me.
