My appeal in the newspaper seems to have worked,
for I have found myself a home.
I really hope this will be my last,
for I know I am getting quite old.
This family have had dogs all their life,
and know that all dogs need time.
So they took me off into their car
and before I knew, we were home.
Straight away I bonded with them
for I feel they understood my needs,
they also took things slowly
and did not rush me to meet and greet.
They took me to a training class
that teaches me how to behave,
and although at first I was afraid
I am now beginning to succeed.
I met a lot of friends there,
both human and K9,
everyone always commented
on how well I was behaved.
I finally felt like I belonged,
like I had a place inside this world,
and for the first time in my life
I knew exactly what was expected of me
in this world that my new owners
have helped me to understand.
