Days without...

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 5, 2015

Maybe I've always admired
your knack for unfeigned smiles,
your large amounts of laughter
and the way your muscles grinned
without sleeves for time is
skinny.

I don't want to be forced to
forget you.

Because there's another side
to you, another side I thought you
overthrew.

Who knows what words mean
at 2:09 am when my fingers
trace wings of birds we never
knew.

My love for you, I'm told, is not
forbidden or defective.
Yet, like the memories pulsing
through my brain, struggling
like fresh ink on spiritless arms,

I am taboo
to you.

And I wonder next, what is
due
to a God-fearing man
who's future has already
come?

Just re-reading... I really am in love with this poem. Hmm... I though I've rated this poem before, but it appears I haven't. Haha.

Another excellent write, I love how this piece feels so honest and open, like it is from deep within you and you are really showing a sensitive bit of yourself and how you feel about this relationship.

    Lovely write.

I just adore this. This is very relatable. There will always be that person we will always want to be with even after finding out that person doesn't want to be with us. I just love everything about this. Great job (:
