Always Wishing for More

by H. Elizabeth   Jun 8, 2015

I am going to sit here and
Cry into an empty bottle of
Vodka wishing for
More
And swallowing the pills
But I can never have
enough
To make me forget the
memories of you
And your cigarette stained lips
That whispered lies of
I love you
But I am the one who
Believed the lies and
It's my fault my heart ended up
In tons of
Tiny glass pieces
Scattered all around
this small town
And the vodka doesn't work
And the pills don't work
And nothing works
So I sit here
Still broken
Still crying
Still wanting more
Vodka more
Pills and more
Lies of
I love you.

Hannah's poem struck a huge chord within my soul on this lovely formatted and flowing poem.

This poem is a side of how alcohol can destroy a life yes... but the numbing message is touched upon with elegance and grace.. Wonderful write!!

Powerful, emotional write. I like how honest you are in what you wish for, even though you know the pills, vodka, and whispers won't help. It makes me think of what we desire deep in our heart, that want to be purely loved without any setbacks, vs. the reality we have to remind ourselves of. The reality of moving on and realizing it wasn't true. But maybe it can be true with someone else. This piece really illustrates that feeling of being broken and feeling hopeless, which I hope you can conquer. I hope you can overcome this pain. Thinking of you.
