After Forever Ends

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 11, 2015

I was never Daddy's little Princess,
you were never Mummy's little Prince,
yet somehow we instantly connected so deep
and truly believed we could be together as King and Queen,
even after forever ends.

We had no one to be our leader,
perhaps that's why we worked so well together,
but together we turned stars into mirrors
and created a dream of our future;
all that we aspired to be.

Little did we know that you would leave so soon,
and we never got the chance to discuss what we would do
after forever ends, but only for you.

    Superb poem, Saffie! Love the first two lines and the metaphor! Tinge of sadness there! The whole poem fits together beautifully and, as you have become so adept at doing, mingles feelings,emotion and story in such few lines! Very sophisticated, to the point, but leaves the reader guessing at the end...what if? After forever ends...now there is a concept for pondering?

    Very moving - "we turned stars into mirrors and created a dream of our future" - pure poetry; I love this line. And what a sad last verse. Well written.
