Lingering Loneliness

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 13, 2015

I'm beginning to really miss your touch,
your voice,
your face,
the sound of our hearts beating together
as we lay beneath a blanket of stars.

The memory of your laugh
no longer makes me smile,
but crushes my heart deep into my soul.

I no longer want to live without
the sound of your laughter,
and I refuse to find comfort
in the voice of someone else.

I don't think I can become accustomed to
this loneliness that forever lingers around.

A sad, hopeless poem, but beautifully executed. "The sounds of our hearts beating together as we lay beneath a blanket of stars" - lovely imagery. The whole of the second stanza is superb, too.
