May 21

- Flashback -

"Babe don't do this..." a voice
on the phone whispered.
"I'm so sorry but this is what
I want to do and you can't stop me."
another voice spoke in tears.
With a click the phone went dead
and now she never has a chance
to see her again.

- End of flashback -

It had been years since that day.
Engraved in her heart, a shadow
of her grief shows on today.
She can't go to her gravesite,
she's trapped by her rigid morality.

Tracing where their ring was supposed to be
her inner screams drown her subconscious.
"It's not fair" she cried out in pain.

So many dreams had turned into
illusions instead of realities.
Heart of gold slowly started taking
the shade of obsidian stones.

With a forced smile she faces the world
in an effort to conceal the suffering, but
behind those chocolate eyes lies a world
that no one will ever know...

Except the ones that shredded her soul

(I wrote this on May 21, 2015 in a tribute to the ones I lost it brings me so much emotional pain that I had to release it in a healthy way so here it is.

P.S. It's been two years that I've lost her.

Wow - almost brought me to tears reading this. Powerful doesn't sum this poem up. "Heart of gold slowly started taking the shade of obsidian stones" What a wonderful line. And that last line really is a wonderful end to a truly emotional piece.
