I believe in love

by Darren   Jun 21, 2015

My religion is the love shared
between me, my wife and children
my faith is the belief bestowed
upon me, through the gaze of wonderment
my daughters provide.

I need no bible, no ancient text
for I have many photograph albums
a reminder of my real achievements
testament to my love for them.

My home is my only church
the bedroom an altar
a place where love is made
new life was created
desire and lust, no sin.

My son is my idol
his determination a true sermon
in belief in me and himself
our family unit is real strength.

My wife forgives my art
she is the bestower of love
no need for hate preaching
her role is to teach respect .

Our unit of five holds more power
than any religious teachings
together we are unbreakable
human spirit bonded with love
my future in the eyes of my children

This unit of five is my legacy
a hug from your own child
holds more meaning
than any false prophecy
in their eyes I am equal
not a blasphemous heretic.

****dug this one up from the doldrums, the sentiment hasn't wavered.

Brilliant ! I can relate to this exactly. I am 34, happily married, three children - and they are everything to me. More important than anything. I could not have put it better. 5

This is beautiful. I love the honestly in it. The hints of emotions throughout the whole piece. It shows a more intimate part of you, like, a part that maybe you keep to yourself but express through your love and care for your family.

I love how you split it up, how each part is dedicated to different people or ideas. I love your writing and this is a really good one from my perspective.

Not the most grand poem with big fancy words and all those little patterns, but it is personal and heart-felt.

    Love it.
