On Shooting Stars

by JB Guancia Dormido   Jun 24, 2015

I still search for you in the crowds,
Under the canopy of green leaves
On sunny days or rainy days,
Behind the immense trees,
Among unoccupied benches.
I seek for your shadow on empty fields,
Stare out on my window every time it rains.
Wait on bus terminals and hope that our worlds might collide,
I look out for you under the street lights
And inside passing cars.
I sneak behind closed doors,
And keep watching my back.
I stretch my eyesight for your silhouette
Far away where the land and the skies meet.
On winding roads I look ahead,
On shooting stars, I wish and plead.
I wish for an ally, I wish for a companion.
I wish not for a foe, I wish for a friend.

Heart breaking and beautifully written - a poem I think many would relate to. "I look out for you under the street lights and inside passing cars" - wonderful imagery. 5 from me.
