Magic And Other Cheap Trick

by Samuel Ernst   Jun 24, 2015

I am the Magician,
Performer of cheap tricks,
Misdirection is my greatest tool,
I hide cards in my sleeve,
But what I show you is wondrous,
....Is it not?
You gaze upon my stage,
Awe struck and amused,
You ask few questions,
Because the doves are beautiful,
.....Are they not?
I hide behind cheap tricks,
My smoke and mirrors,
On stage, I am your false idol,
You see my smiles because I misdirect your eyes,
Yet you never see my frown,
Because you only see what you want,
....... Do you not?
This is my real illusion......

"You see my smiles because I misdirect your eyes" - excellent line. I like the questions you keep asking throughout as well. Great poem.
