Exchanging Kindness

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 26, 2015

Sometimes you wake up
with a heavy cloud above your head
and rain pouring down on your day.

That smile upon your face
seems buried deep beneath a frown,
perhaps hiding in a heart of pain.

And all that you need
on these stormy days
is a little kind gesture
that goes a long way.

A hug from a friend,
a smile from a stranger,
or even a few wise words
to comfort you in this weather.

But also remember that others too
will face these days of stormy blue,
and that kind gesture that helped you through,
might be exactly what they need from you.

I also Love this saffie, A lot of times when we feel down and lost we don't have anyone to pick us back up, and that is true in todays world it seems. But your poem rings true for the fact that even one kind gesture can help us and it does go a long way. I love how you wrote this poem, at the beginning it seems like your sadness is getting the best of you, but then you realize that we don't always have to feel this way at all. Just knowing one kind gesture either way can make someones day, or vice versa. OR You could even find happiness in yourself when you are helping someone. 5/5

Love this, Saffie. I think this is a poem that anyone can relate to, as we have all had "those days"! The second stanza and the last are my favourite. I think the last especially is a wonderful end; I love the way it switches to rhyming verse there. Lovely work.
