A Child's Prayer

by Maritza Quintero   Jul 7, 2015

This is a child's prayer,
My shout into the void,
Of how I want you back.
Be my friend once again,
I can't stand this emptiness without you;
You were my anchor, my rock, my roots to reality.
Be here with me once again.
This is me asking,
This is me pleading your return.
This is me having a child's prayer,
For I know I am naive.
This is my shout into the void,
For I know you won't be back.
This is my shout into the void.
This is a child's prayer.

    I love the repetition in this - it adds to the sheer desperation of the poem - excellent

    Pure thoughts and well expressed emotions.
    Good poem.
