Writers Block

by Brookie   Jul 7, 2015

I decided to write a poem
with petty little words
but words turned to dust
before they touched my soul

funny how that works
whenever i want to write
but the writing never comes
and the pages never change

so if you have the secret
to turn my tears to art
then please hold me tightly
so i can finally cry tonight

Some memorably good lines. But its hard for me to take a poem seriously with the line "touched my soul"

I nominated this piece hon, I agree with ben this is true poetry at its best. I love how simply the words flow from this piece and not a lot of people can do that anymore. It seems like this poem is about your true feelings inside and how your words touch your soul or other peoples souls. There are a lot of people who write from their soul and that seems to always be the same, but what writers don't realize is that it is okay to feel the things you are feeling. There is so much truth in the second stanza though, when we do want to write nothing ever comes out and when we don't we make master pieces lol. This poem is all about emotion it seems. or that's the way I read it. Sometimes simple poetry is the best. 5/5

I'd say, with your writer's block, you've created a great piece! "so if you have the secret to turn my tears to art" is poetic, whether you like it or not! Excellent
