Plea

by Maher   Jul 27, 2015

They say a soul can bare so much,
the weight of mountains to the stars.
With every breath the pain will touch
the boundaries of the heart.
With time the weight can strip away,
along with fragments of your love.
But again, in time, that weight will sway
and turn to burdens in the dark.

Howbeit, am I of cursed strain,
that my light grows oh so far?
For with every step I long to take,
I surely fall to harm.
And with every fall, a thousand more,
in the millions I shall drown.
With no raft but you, my Lord I beg,
hear my plea that is to come.

By God, I swear, I love her so
and her child by multitudes.
They could fall forever in my arms
and my strength will not diffuse.
They could call me from the furthest plain,
I'd show, if for their muse.
I'd traverse the seas and frozen lakes,
to pay them all their dues.

My Lord, have mercy on her eyes,
clear her burdens 'til they're dry.
Keep her warm in times of bitter cold
and draft ease into her life.
Remove the weights from on her soul,
trade her trials for your light.
And make every step she longs to take,
a broadener of her smile.

You have such a charming way of writing that just makes me come back again and again....it's very olde worlde and just something I feel enchanted by. Haven't read your work for a while (sorry) but..glad to have found this one!

    BTW...

They could call me from the furthest plane

    Should it be plain?

I know you're probably thinking of getting on the next plane to revisit but....:)

This is another beautiful write from you. There is a certain style to your poems that set them apart, an old style about them that sadly, seems to have all put died in this modern world :) I really like that you are not making a plea for your own benefit rather for the benefit of another...

I've missed reading your work...thankfully you were signed in at the same time as me today :)...definitely nominated!!!

Thank you Hellon. It's something that is happening right now, that's probably why.
