Incomplete Instructions

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 28, 2015

I am the piece of furniture
that comes without instructions -
as simple as I may seem,
you will never be able to fully build me.

I am the child's toy
where the instructions have been misplaced,
leaving me unable to work the way I should -
uselessly placed back inside the crumpled box
and buried beyond the back of a dusty shelf.

Forever misunderstood,
useless,
unwanted
and

abandoned.

I love the metaphors in this, Saffie - especially the furniture one. We've all had that piece of furniture that we just cannot put together, and to apply it to a person is an excellent piece of imagery. No matter how simple, it will just never be whole. A thoroughly engrossing and sadly written piece.
