Poetry and it's personal values (dedication)

by Dancing Rivers   Jul 30, 2015

Poetry is odd.
Simply because, it reveals an element of a person,
not usually seen otherwise.

Poetry clubs and sites are scorching flames,
that swallow our words and feed us the ashes,
in the form of comments and votes.

Sometimes, the flames will devour every morsel,
sending back star dust beauty,
sometimes it will chew with long teeth,
our hearts most cherished thoughts,
and spit them out impersonally.

Poetry is very personal, abstract in its realism.
Our souls alight and feed the words,
But at times our minds disassociate themselves,
and the ones who we grant the power of judgement,
they sense it, but cannot explain it.

Poetry is too personal.
Still we put bare our souls,
In the hopes that at some stage..

We will be understood- to no avail.

Poetry for me is... If you read my poem titled poetry the feeder of our souls.. I think you may understand a little bit of what poetry is for me.

I don't necessarily consider poetry to be that personal even though I can make it personal... but but I guess ultimately everything is personal in a way as we cannot truly be unbiased.

I enjoyed the poem. The ideas could be clearer but they are ok.
