Dawning Sun

by cassie hughes   Jul 30, 2015

Today I saw the sun come up
and wondered at the beauty of the world.
In first lights glow the colours gleamed,
washed clean by natures night time tears and healed.
The rifts and scuffs of every day
Lay smoothed and varnished under mornings mist.
And careworn landscape's frayed edge, patched
Was whole and mended under daybreak's kiss.

~

My eyes have opened 'pon these scenes before,
But never have they truly understood,
The truth I finally allow my heart.
That after darkness always comes the sun.

I wish I read this before my votes were done :/

I thought the whole piece was wonderful but for me:

The rifts and scuffs of every day
Lay smoothed and varnished under mornings mist."

^^^^^ this is just beautiful :))

Your imagery is epic in this piece and I so love the hope thats held within such a wonderful reflective write :)

What a beautiful and reflective write Cassie, it shows both sides of the world, the light and the dark, and how you can wake up to see something, and then decide whether to see the light or darkness in it.

You are right, after darkness, there is always light, and sometimes that is what you have to hold on to.

    Lovely.
