The Last Story

by Jeff Weiner   Aug 1, 2015

Darkness descended as the clouds broke open
And a whine pierced through their hearts,
Terror commanded their every thought
As the red eyes of death approached,

They ran for cover with nowhere to hide
Leaving all hope behind,
Soon realizing that life as they knew it was over,,,,

The sound of its wings was deafening
Searing through the screams of desperation,
Voices not even heard in their own heads
As the flames slowly melted skin from bone,

Laughter now owned the skies
As the beast searched for its next prey,
The lone survivor could only remember
Reading this story before falling asleep
