A Cocktail of Dribbles

by Yakori bint Muhammed   Aug 3, 2015

2nd August, 2015.

Sitting atop the softness of
the sofa my screen comes
alive graced with the
Barcelona forward as he
fumbles with a ball advertising
to a fizzy drink, Lionel Messi
always delivers my thirst.

Hunger lures me to the
kitchen to grab Dorito chips
stashed in the cabinet, a favorite
of my sister, whom is crazy over
the striking striker; Ibrahimovic
sure gives her a morning treat 24/7.

I lounge back on the sofa,
tunes to SuperSport 3 to air
Tottenham against Inter Milan.
The Welsh winger,
Bale sure fascinates the eye
in his yellow on black jersey,
I smile in anticipation of the game.

My phone cries out
to me as my brother's
photo appears on the screen,
he has my ears and he gushes
about having his name printed
on his Barcelona jersey, home
to the pass master orchestrator, Xavi.

As he ends, a breath of
relief escapes my mouth
for his long football lectures
that ends so soon on
a Saturday noon.

With a deafening sound,
the door jerks me to life.
Sleep away, reality comes
today marks the 1st day
in a stretch of a week
I didn't dream about
the most expensive player,
my soft spot Cristiano Ronaldo
who's eyes leaves me
gasping for his aura.

NB:
The random football poem was written for a FIFA PS2 game tournament. So composed the poem in that regards and read it at the event.

Sweet Jesus I didn't understand a single bit of this poem maybe because I'm not a sports person so I didn't understand this but I saw the vivid picture playing along my mind and it was nice to read my dear friend. I hope that you had fun making this poem! :)
