A dads promise

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

You both grow so much every day,
yet in my eyes you will always remain my baby Angels.

I know you will detest me when you are thirteen,
the ugly old man who thinks he knows it all.

The hindrance to your freedom,
shackling your dreams
bursting your false hopes,

You will experience real hate
for somebody you truly love.
Deep inside, those hormones and emotions
tumble around like laundry dancing wildly
to a mysterious tune , only it can hear.

You will cry oh so many rivers of tears,
flowing rapidly carrying your anger,
as I paddle against the flow
for a reassuring hug.

Life will seem relentless in it's pursuit,
that chase to ensure your sadness continues.
Nobody can really understand you,
but my language will never be different to yours.
If I portray that I have walls,
there will always be doors for you.

Just remember my promise,
when my little Angels try to climb the trees,
stepping up on each of life's branches,
should you slip......

should you fall.....

I will always be looking up,
ready to catch you.

Aww, i love the part about portraying having walls and the existence of doors... so moving.

I wonder if they detest you like you thought they would? I just wonder because you sound so certain that they would
