False promises

by Sarah Day   Aug 8, 2015

You promised me I would forever be the only one for you
You gave me your word, your oath, your bond
you meant all you said and all along- you were nothing but a liar
Yes, I will concede, mistakes were made,
feelings change,and memories fade
but you solidly stated all along
the way that you would love me till the end
You placated my sensibilities
by saying you'd always be there for me
giving me false security in a future that would never be.
What you had to gain will always remain quite the mystery
for I fail to see how duping me benefitted you in any way
The price you'll pay for eternity
will never be worth what you did to me
I truly hope that this you'll see
and you'll come through as you promised.

A moving piece and well written. Love really can be a bore, can't it??
Take care and all the best,
