In Fatality Reclaimed

by cassie hughes   Aug 8, 2015

There,
a sigh, a soft remembered sound,
and as I turn, my eyes deceive this weary mind.
Still spectre of the past, you stand and watch
without a care for what will be,
Heedless of the agonies drawn forth by your own hand,
to taunt and grin as mem'ries burgeon forth
long buried in too shallow graves.
A rainbow sits inside my fist,
and with it I will fly, at long last wresting
all control back for my own.
So, spectre, do your worst,
My life was never yours to keep
just borrow for a while and then return.

    Wow Cassie, this is amazing.
So descriptive and intense, really showing us that battle of emotions, of ups and downs, depression trying to overpower you and steal your entire being.

you have worded this so well, as you usually do, but also taken us on a ride with you which we can relate to.

Well done and excellent unique title choice - well done on that.

    Great use of metaphors.

lovely piece. I would say I do enjoy your poems.

Another beautifully written piece Cassie which speaks of hardships gone through but hope in the end. Excellent use of metaphors throughout. Great poem from one of my favourite authors on this site.
