Effigy

by DarkLight   Aug 10, 2015

There is need in me
one that controls my surrounding
pretending to be a god.

The picture I hang on the wall
calls me a liar
for I have broken many promises
more than the number of whiskey bottles I drunk to forget.

Her eyes drown me in my own imagination
choking as if locked in chimney.
The idea of forever staying away is mesmerizing
but I find it difficult to comprehend.

While the beholder alarms the need in me
causing my heart to vibrate as it throbs
to catch the attention of the woman whose picture I grace upon.

Back I stare as if my killing eyes would make it disappear
it's time to face reality,
I'm falling in love with fading memories
and wish it could come back to life.
